Our Story

I, Joe Silvestro Founder of Silvestro Espresso have spent 5 years in research & development for the perfect blend of coffee from around the world.  Key elements include harvesting processes, grading, blending and roasting to create a coffee with a unique aroma, balanced natural acidity and a full-body flavour.

My journey started back in 2012 in Rome, Italy! I had been walking for a while touring the beautiful city and decided to take a coffee break. I looked around and saw this little café called Sant’ Eustachio. I walked in and asked for an espresso coffee. From that very first sip, I realised that I had just indulged in the best tasting coffee in the world! That smooth full body, velvety, creamy taste was like liquid gold. It was so impressive that I did not want to leave Rome just so I could drink that coffee every day!

When I got back to Australia every coffee was now a disappointment as I kept comparing it to that magnificent Sant’ Eustachio Coffee! That coffee taste would remain embedded in my head for many years to come!

I even tried to order some Sant’ Eustachio coffee online and only found one distributor at $385 per kilo! So I bought 10 pods for $70 just to relive that sensational coffee experience back in 2012. Delivery took 3 months and finally arrived. I ripped out those pods and quickly made myself an espresso coffee! As expected those flavours that had been embedded in my brain came back to life! “That’s it!” I told myself. “I’m going to create a coffee that will indulge my taste buds the same way as that first sip in Rome!”

Coming from an engineering background my goal was to try and create a great tasting coffee myself analysing coffee regions around the world. The strengths and weaknesses of those regions, processes and blends together to create the best tasting premium coffee.

Finally, I am excited to announce that I am the proud distributor of 3 types of coffee that I trust will satisfy most coffee critics!

 

  • Silvestro Espresso Premium Coffee – 5 Single Origins from Brazil, Ethiopia, Indonesia, India and PNG uniquely roasted together. The coffee is the most prized species called ARABICA. Arabica grows in altitudes over 450m above sea level and possesses the greatest aroma and flavour.

 

  • Silvestro Espresso Organic Coffee– Single Origin from Peru – 100% ARABICA Certified Organic where producers cannot use synthetic substances such as most pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers. The cultivation of organic coffee offers greater quantities of nutrients, antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. Consequently, the acidity and flavour are also easier to appreciate in organic coffee.

  • Silvestro Espresso Decaffeinated Coffee – Coffee is decaffeinated prior to roasting by the few decaffeinated plants in the world. The Decaffeination process removes much of the thin chaff silver skin from outside the coffee beans and can easily burn when roasting. For this reason, the coffee beans are ‘Air’ roasted. This allows more airflow around the coffee bean for a more evenly distributed heat and a better roasting outcome.
